Ministry forms probe committee over Posari’s burial, certificate authenticity

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has formed a high-level inquiry committee following media reports concerning the burial of Manik Posari and the authenticity of his freedom fighter certificate in Pirojpur.
According to a ministry press release issued today, the committee was formed in view of the gravity of the matter to establish the facts and verify the related issues. The names of its members were not disclosed.
The committee was formed on the directives of Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan. It has been instructed to conduct an impartial and objective investigation as soon as possible and submit its report to the ministry.
Necessary legal and administrative action would be taken in accordance with existing laws and regulations based on the committee’s findings and recommendations, the ministry said.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the spirit and dignity of the Liberation War by removing non-freedom fighters from the list while protecting the honour of genuine freedom fighters.

Any freedom fighter engaging in unethical activities or being used by any group or organisation must bear personal responsibility for their actions, the press release added.

The ministry said it remained vigilant to prevent any fraudulent individual or group from using the name of the Liberation War to push the state into crisis.
